                                                     Enola Holmes (Mystery Drama)

The opening scene used a variety of shots from establishing shots of Enola's house, to close ups of her expressive face. Dynamic camera movements such as tracking shots following Enola, create a sense of energy and almost mystery. The camera focus is sharp, drawing attention to key details which in turn enhance the narrative. 

 

Editing: 

Quick cuts and jump cuts are used to create a fast-paced and exciting atmosphere. This reflects Enola’s energetic personality. The editing also emphasizes the mystery unfolding 

 

Sound: 

The soundtrack is a crucial part in setting the tone for this movie. A blend of suspenseful music and ambient sounds enhances the mood and helps the audience be more intrigued as to what is going on and allows them to take a deeper look into the scene. 

 

Mise-en-scene: 

The setting is a Victorian era home, visually rich, with details that hint towards Enola's unique character and all the secrets that she keeps to herself, as well as her mother’s. Costumes and make-up reflect the time period and Enola’s rebellion. 

 

Production and distribution: 

This film was produced by Legendary Pictures and distributed by Netflix. The movie's budget was $20 Million. Over time, the movie made over $400 million. The movie director was Harry Bradbeer. 

 

Opening credits: 

The opening credits are stylish and blend seamlessly with the narrative as well as the time period. The font choice and color pallet are consistent with the overall aesthetic of the film. 

 

Awards/ nominations: 

Enola Holmes received several nominations for various awards and nominations, including costume design and acting. The film was chosen for these awards due to its unique blend of mystery, adventure, drama, and feminist themes. 

 

Why I chose this film: 

I chose this film because it is the same general genre as my partner and I's 8-week film project. However, it has a different subgenre. I have seen this film before, but every time I watch it I always notice something new or put together two dots that I haven't in previous times I've seen it.
